How I work
I see individuals (adults from age 18).
I work with people of all backgrounds, aiming to understand you and your circumstances.

Initial session

In this session, I will ask you what brings you to counselling and what you are hoping for; I will assess your needs (to see if I can help you) and you will get a chance to meet me (to see if you feel comfortable working with me). At the end of this session, we can decide together whether counselling is appropriate, and if I am the right counsellor for you. If you would like to go ahead, we will agree on an initial number of sessions (I usually suggest starting with six sessions).
Sessions

After the agreed initial sessions, we can review together if you would like to continue; the total number of sessions will vary depending on your needs. I can provide both shorter term counselling and longer term psychotherapy.

All sessions last for 50 minutes and are usually on a weekly basis on the same day and time. There may be exceptions to this when there is a need for flexibility, like shift working, but please be aware I may not always have different availability.

Sessions can be face to face, online, or telephone.
Trust and confidentiality are an essential part of counselling, therefore, I will not share the content of your session, unless, I have a very serious concern about your safety or the safety of another, or the law requires me to. I will ask for your GP details when we start counselling, I do not routinely contact them and would only do so in very rare circumstances if I felt your well-being was at risk.

I have regular supervision to ensure I am working ethically and to the best of my ability. I abide by ethical guidelines set out by the BACPBritish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and UKCPUK Council for Psychotherapy. I have both Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.
